| The
2004 Chardonnay is a blend of fruit flavours from the vineyard
and subtle winemaking influences. Made as two batches in the
winery, half was handled oxidatively, helping develop complexity.
This portion finished the latter half of fermentation in older
oak. The remaining juice was tank fermented for freshness
and the two batches recombined for bottling. Far from dominating,
the oak combined with partial lees contact gives the wine
a supporting framework and creaminess on the palate. It all
serves to make the wine a delight to taste.
